I’m Dan, the founder of Balance Addicts & my 2 eldest daughters love gymnastics!

Like many parents, for each birthday & Christmas I would go online to hunt for gymnastics equipment & accessories.

What I soon realised after buying multiple pairs of ‘handmade’ handstand canes is that they were mass produced in factories, very poorly made & not designed with the gymnast in mind.

After just a few weeks, the handstand canes would start to twist & wobble whilst my daughters were using them! I was not prepared to risk their safety with poor handstand equipment any longer.

So in 2022 I converted my garage into a wood workshop where I crafted the first handmade attempts of our very own handstand canes. After weeks of trial & error, feedback & testing from my daughters, I came closer & closer to each of the specifications you now see in our Balance Addicts Pedestals.

The angle of the head to protect the wrists, width of the base for safety, screws that are reinforced with glue that are reinforced again with wooden plugs, the overall height - all of these specifications have been refined through testing & feedback from actual gymnasts to produce the ultimate handstand canes.

3 years on & I’ve taken the same approach with every item of balance equipment that we have introduced since.
